It smells like Father's Day!

Over the ages, it's been said that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. So what if instead of buying the usual signature pen or car accessory for Dad on Father's Day, you'll surprise him with something special like giving him the latest wine favorite and cook something fantastic for a Father's Day meal - steak on the grill!

Since it's for the Dad in your life it should be something very special, so you want to select the tenderest portions of meat for grilling. It is as important to know your cuts of meat before planning the menu or you might serve a flavorless, tough piece of leather on Father's Day. For many men, a great steak comes something really good and you might not notice the difference, but let's face it - Dads will.

When buying your steak, look for the word "loin" on the package. Experts recommend T-bone as the most superior cut of beef for grilling. T-bone steak stays tender and juicy, and is thick enough to withstand heat on the grill without overcooking. Round steaks or "chuck" may be good but these does not cook well on the grill as a T-bone does. You may go for flank steak and London broil but why not choose the most popular one of them all? T-Bone for Father's Day!

Next is to look for some good marbling in the steak. Now this is fat. But marbling means flavor and we're not cooking for a special diet on this special day, we're trying to give Dad a good steak, remember? That specks of fat in a steak will melt while the meat is cooking, giving the meat a wonderful, juicy and more tender flavor.

Knowing the grades of your steak brings the best quality of steak you are cooking for Father's Day dinner. If you are not sure how to choose a good steak, ask the experts, or consider ordering online if the service is available in your area. There is nothing like having a fresh, high-quality steak for Dad, and there's no better time to enjoy lean beef protein than with him on Father's Day.

Even though Dad makes the most delicious steak you have ever tasted, you can still surprise him with your steak. There is no accounting for taste, especially where the Dad of your life is concerned, but one thing is sure, it's going to be one of the best things he will love most on Father's Day. This can even be a perfect way to tell him or show him how much you love and appreciated him.

Perhaps this is also how I can let my Dad know how grateful I am to be his child and how much I appreciated his effort of trying so hard to be a better father. On Father's Day, I'll try to find T-bone steak and cook him steak on the grill.

Happy Father's Day!
